Painting with 50 children living in the village: 'When I grow up I want to be'

In October 2014 PAINT-IT-FORWARD traveled to Chipata in Zambia and rolled out a great project together with
SThree recruitment to paint with 50 children in the age of 4-18 years old. These children live in an SOS Children's village in Chipata. The little artists have been asked to paint what they want to be when they grow up. They painted nurses, doctors and teachers. It was great to think with them about their futures and help them visualize it. The 50 paintings are sold via an online auction. Together with SThree PAINT-IT-FORWARD managed to raise EUR 41.500,-! The money raised from the auction of the 50 paintings will fund places for young people to learn trades for employment. Little artists became famous worldwide. Paintings have been bought by SThree's offices in Paris, Tokyo, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Amsterdam, Brussel, Houston etc.

> March 2012 PAINT-IT-FORWARD for Watoto Foundation, Tanzania
Painting with 9 former street boys at the drop-in center Arusha 'Child in the stars'

Together with my sister Sandy and with the teacher Andreas we have been painting with 9 former street boys who some weeks before were living in the rough streets of Arusha but thanks to the Watoto Foundation have chosen the right path. We asked the boys to paint in the hearts, that were drawn on the paper, what makes them happy. We explained the boys that we would take the paintings to Holland and sell them there, and that the money would be transferred to the Watoto Foundation in order for them to go to school there later.

The paintings came with a photo of the artist and with a specially written poem:
"You helped a child in the stars
They too like books, and birds, and cars
Don’t want to be out in the streets and pray
For warmth and a chance in life, every day
They deserve education, a better life
A job in the future, a house, a wife
Look at the dark sky every night
This child in the stars shines for you, so bright"

The paintings were sold together for EUR 1.000,-. Thanks to FB Agency/Club Donderdag, Voltage Tilburg, Tulbe BV, United Children, family and friends. This amount was transferred to the Watoto Foundation/'Child in the Stars' in June 2012.

Dam-tot-Dam loop (10EM run)

September 18th I participated in the Dam-tot-Dam run from Amsterdam to Zaamdam.
The sponsors could buy a ticket for 10 Euro each. Two paintings and a lunch at Fifteen were provided by PAINT-IT-FORWARD. The drawing of lots took place at the end of October by Willem van der Steen, 5yrs.
In October 2011 we transferred EUR 2.350,- to the Watoto foundation in Tanzania.

Thanks to family, friends, colleagues and Tele2. With this amount a waterpurifying system has been bought, to seperate the high amount of fluor from the drinking water, which results in healthier teeth and bones for these young former streetboys.

> November 2010 PAINT-IT-FORWARD for Patch, South Africa
Painting with children at Tonka Bosman School, auction at Tele2

Together with my friend Rianne I went to South Africa to paint with 20 children at the Tonka Bosman school (related to the Patch Helderberg foundation) in Somerset West. I prepared this day with Mandy Jones of Patch and with Anita Dekker a creative therapist in the Netherlands.
Explaining the kids they were able to make money for Patch by making a piece of art made them very proud. Especially since a journalist interviewed them and took pictures for the local newspapers. They enjoyed the attention of two Dutch girls, the dancing (they taught us the Waka Waka steps), the present they all got and off course the painting itself. We donated the huge amount of painting materials to the school and we took one painting of each kid back to sell in the Netherlands.
We drew a heart on each canvas and asked the children to paint in the heart what makes them happy. We saw a lot of flowers, butterflies, X-mas trees also an animal and a car. The results are incredibly beautiful and colourful.

Overview_paintings.pdf  in this document you'll find the 20 paintings of the little artists.
Newspaper_South_Africa.pdf proud to anounce that the project made it to the South African newspaper.

In January 2011 EUR 2.915,- was transferred to Patch. Thanks to friends, family, colleagues, De Voltage, Tele2 & Hans van Breukelen.
